Manchester Metropolitan Students’ Union invites you to celebrate the very best Societies from around the UK on 30 April 2019.
From Bristol, to Nottingham, to Cardiff, the National Societies Awards has landed in Manchester for its fourth and biggest year yet. There are 12 awards up for grabs, which will recognise your society as one of the best in the country.
Your ticket to the National Societies Awards 2019 will give you a delicious three-course meal, evening entertainment and access to the daytime events – which will feature demonstrations and classes from our societies so you can try something new, or exchange top tips.

This ticket covers the ceremony and the day events and includes your own hotel room in Manchester city centre, nearby the venue.

As you arrive into Manchester, we have some things you can do: we have Manchester Met’s societies putting on drop-in sessions throughout the day for you to try something new.
MMU Pole Dancing Society
Hosting open sessions in our studios from 10:00 until 16:00. Whether you’re an expert or have never seen a pole before, the society will show you the ropes.
Manchester Universities Gilbert and Sullivan Society
Currently in rehearsals for their next show, they’ll be hosting a give it a go drop in session from 11:00 until 16:00 – if you love musical theatre, you can come along for a song.
Our Manchester Met team will be hosting Bra Pong from 11:00 until 15:00 and it’s harder than it sounds.
From 10:00 our LGBTQ+ society will be hosting a craft session - come get creative before the awards.
From 10:00 MMU Gamers Group will be hosting a chilled gaming session with all your favourite consoles.

The closest train station is Manchester Oxford Road (10 minute walk). Also within walking distance are Manchester Piccadilly (18 minute walk) where you can also get a train to Manchester Oxford Road or Manchester Victoria (30 minute walk).
Both Piccadilly and Victoria have a tram station, if you want to get a tram connection.
Manchester Coach Station is a 17 minute walk to The Union.
The nearest tram stops are Deansgate – Castlefield and St Peters Square which are both a 15 minute walk to The Union.
Metroshuttle Buses are free buses which link the main train stations: Metroshuttle Route 2 stops at Oxford Road Train station, only a 10 minute walk from The Union.

Unfortunately, there is no onsite parking available however, there are car parks available nearby that are a short walk away. If you are here just for the day there is the Aquatics centre car park (Booth St E, Manchester, M13 9SS) or there is a 24 hour NCP nearby.
