Matt is the Senior staff member in the Union. He reports to the trustee board. He works with officers and staff to manage the day to day operation of the Union on the boards behalf. He runs on coffee.
Leading marketing, comms, events and conferencing is Jo. She makes sure that we talk to the right people, about the right things, at the right time – and that students' voices are heard.
Lesley looks after all the staff at The Union and makes sure The Union stays a great place to work. She makes sure that the hiring process is fair and that The Union is the best employer it can be.
Lou oversees everything in finance and makes sure everything The Union does meets all legal financial requirements. She also keeps an eye on all performance measures such as the bars, coffee shop and retail.
Paul looks after everything The Union does that directly benefits the students – he makes sure all the different departments that you come into contact with work hard for your benefit.
Steph’s all about research and insight and loves immersing herself in an issue to really understand it. She’s on maternity leave at the moment, immersing herself in a whole new world being a mum.
Meg manages the Advice Centre and leads the team. She’s been at The Union since 2002 and knows how to deal with almost any problems that students face.
Lorna’s worked in all sorts of roles since she was a student at MMU. With ten years experience at The Union under her belt, Lorna's a go-to for both students and advisers.
As a student, Alex was really involved with the welfare and liberation side of his Students' Union, so working to help students has always been Alex's calling.
Glenda’s been with the Advice Centre since 2011, and she loves to work with students through complex cases and seeing them rewarded with the positive outcomes they deserve.
Jackie started working at The Union in 2003 and used to work as a Mental Health Caseworker for the Citizens Advice Bureau. She spends most of her time dealing with finance based questions and helpiing students with funding, benefits and debt.
Tom is one of the faces you'll see if you go to the Advice Centre. Before he came to The Union, he worked for various homless and housing charities providing support and advice.
Making sure everyone is where they should be, on time, and with the right stuff, is Eleanor. She's also the queen of beautifully engineered agendas, minutes and reports.
Paul makes sure all staff are always learning new things and constantly improves the traning on offer. He makes sure everyone's been trained on what they need to do their jobs.
George makes sure Union projects run smoothly and meet deadlines. His projects can be anything from thinking of how Union outlets and services can be more sustainable to organising Welcome Week and other activities.
Habiba is the person that helps managers deal with things like absences or all things recruitment — but she's also there to help out staff if they need any HR support. She's also looking after boosting staff engagement and making sure that everyone loves working at The Union.
Mikey looks after any big events or conferences that happen at The Union or the Salutation, as well as looking after the front of house and media sales teams.
Colette looks after the staff reception team and all the action on the ground floor, including visitors, maintanance and any events that are going on. She's the ultimate go-to for any staff or students in the building.
Students love deals and free stuff, so Josh works with companies to get them advertising opportunties in return. He also manages who has a stand at Freshers Fair and organises what's goes on the digital screens.
Are you a company that wants an event in The Union or The Salutation? Kym's who will secure and help to plan that for you. She also works on internal events like Freshers and Refreshers Fair.
Jack's makes sure that you can always get a coffee, pint or food at The Union. He's responsible for making sure that the bar and cafe are running smoothly and are always stocked up.
Andy's whole career has been in hospitality so he knows kitchens inside out. He makes sure everything's up to standard and is in charge of keeping the kitchen fully-stocked.
Sabera runs the day to day Finance Function and makes sure everything happens on time. She's also covering for Nikki while she's on mat leave, so she pays monthly staff and produces the management accounts.
Nikki deals with all the monthy staff wages and keeps The Union's accounts balanced. She's on maternity leave at the moment, but she'll be back to keeping The Union in check soon.
Keeping on top of all The Union's bills is Kelly. She makes sure everything's paid and that all invoices have been sent to customers.
Making sure the Union's assets are all where they should be is Teresa. She also makes sure all the student staff gets paid, and is the friendly face you'll see at the window when you buy a bus ticket.
Amy's the creative behind The Union's artwork. Her designs are all across The Union – the wall art, the Welcome bee, the bar menus, booklets, event leaflets, website banners, physical banners, bags, pins, posters... everything, really.
Georgie handles all things website and Union Cloud, from managing online content, to working on user experience and interface, or helping when it won't let you buy a society membership.
The Union meme machine and video wizard is Josh. He manages our social media platforms and helps students, officers, and Union staff create any digital content that they need.
Joseph makes sure that all The Union's messaging gets to the right people. He plans huge projets like Welcome and makes sure everything's in the right place at the right time. He's also the go-to for any other teams who needs some marketing wizardry.
Abi keeps students in the loop about Union news and upcoming projects. If you've got a story to tell or anything to shout about, she wants to know. She also works closely with student media and can't resist a good meme.
Laura is an organisational whiz for all things marketing and is the person making sure everything's being printed and delivered on time. She's also got a flair with words and a creative eye for copywriting.
Rob looks after the whole Opportunities Department. He supports all the student groups and makes sure they have opportunity to grow, as well as being the go-to for the VP Cheshire, Sport Officer and Societies and Development Officer.
Kirsty helps socieities make their ideas become reality by helping them with any events, elections or anything else. She also makes sure nobody breaks any rules, stuff, or bones in the process.
Life's never quiet for Sophie. From running events, to helping students set new things up, or sorting out elections – lots of students have Sophie to thank for their society running smoothly.
Lisa keeps everything student voice in check and makes sure that all students and officers have the tools they need to make change during their time at University. In the elections, she's the main person keeping the whole process fair and run by the book.
Anna supports the student reps and sports club committees so they can get their feedback and input into the MMU Sport Programmes and make sure change really happens when they make a great case for it.
Rachael is a key person in making change happen. She supports the elected officers with planning and delivering their campaigns for the year as well as supporting students with theirs.
Sam is the go-to for anything course rep. She designs and helps to deliver the training as well as being on-hand to help the course rep community all year round.
The Union offers so many different types of volunteering – sports, internal opportunities, community projects, and more. Jessica makes sure all of them meet the best standards.
For volunteering projects that are sports focused – Emily is the person to contact. She's always finding new and varied opportunities for sporty student volunteers.
Jilly manages our volunteering portal making sure there’s a volunteer role for every student on there. She talks to charities and tailors roles to what students are interested in. She also organises one-off volunteer days with The Union and volunteering themed talks and workshops.
Through social action and volunteering, Phoebe works with students to get them more involved with their local communities and make a real difference in Manchester.
