Reception and Admin Volunteer

Details Hide[-]

Back on Track is a Manchester charity that enables disadvantaged adults to make lasting, positive changes in their lives. Formed in 1977, today we run a learning centre in Manchester’s Northern Quarter (5 minute walk from Shudehill Tram Stop). We work with adults who are going through a process of recovery or rehabilitation, having been through problems with alcohol or drugs, offending, homelessness and mental health. Our projects enable people to build the skills they need to lead meaningful and fulfilling lives.

We are looking for volunteers to provide a friendly welcome to visitors to the centre and to telephone enquirers, and to assist with administration tasks. This position is perfect for anyone who is looking for office experience and has an interest in working in the charity sector. As part of the role you will be the first person our visitors will encounter at Back on Track, many of whom are vulnerable adults looking to make positive changes in their lives.

Main Tasks include:
• Use the telephone system to answer and transfer calls
• Present a friendly and professional face for the organisation
• Deal with enquiries, many concerning vulnerable adults
• Greet visitors
• Oversee and maintain reception area (including seating/waiting area) ensuring both are neat and tidy
• Undertake administration tasks e.g. data entry, photocopying, laminating, word processing
• Interact with students at the centre
• Abide by the Back on Track policies and procedures.
• Maintain an open and non judgemental attitude.
• Maintain appropriate boundaries at all times.

For more information please contact Rachel Garratt on the above email, or call 0161 8341661.

We have a number of other volunteer roles at our centre, including Learning Support Mentors, Cafe Volunteers and Activity Leaders.
