Hey, I’m Ross your sports officer for this coming academic year! This is my 2nd and final year as the sports officer having been in the role last year, I will finally be leaving MMU after nearly a decade (there’s always one more year though?). I wasn’t the stunt double for Thor in Avengers Endgame and also didn’t sing or write ‘Old Town Road’ but I am incredibly passionate about our students here at MMU! I studied Wildlife Biology as undergraduate and Marine Biology as a Masters, so naturally I ran to be the Sports Officer. One of my priorities this year is to support mental health campaigns and continue to make sport more inclusive. Drop me a call, a message or put out a bat signal and I’ll be there!
The Sports officer predominantly represents all students involved in sport, whether that be via clubs, recreationally or academic. As sport office I ensure students have a voice within the University and that they are the driving force for positive changes, making our sport offer here at MMU world class. I work closely with sports teams and committees, including the sports council where students can choose how the academic year is shaped. The sports officer assists with student led events and fundraisers, helping individuals and teams support both themselves and the causes they are most passionate about.
