Hi everyone, I’m Fab and I’m your newly elected sport officer for 2020/21.

I’m from Scotland but have lived in Manchester for 3 years now, so sadly the accent’s gone a bit.

I studied Fine Art and Art History at university and graduated this summer. I loved the opportunity to get involved with sport at university, even sports I never knew I’d love so much! I joined both Cheerleading and Equestrian and was Chair of Cheer in my final year.

From my role in Cheer, I grew a passion for helping bring positive changes to the club and thought about how I could bring this energy and appetite for support and change to every sport. This is what eventually encouraged me to run in the Student Officer Elections.

Although this year is uncertain in terms of what sport will look like, my main focus is making sure our students have an active, healthy year alongside their studies. I want to make sure everyone has an opportunity to be involved in sport if they want to.

I can’t wait to be your Sports Officer. If you ever have any questions, you need only ask.

The Sport officer predominantly represents all students involved in sport, whether that be via clubs, recreationally or academic. As sport officer I ensure students have a voice within the University and that they are the driving force for positive changes, making our sport offer here at Manchester Met world class. I work closely with sports teams and committees, including the sports council where students can choose how the academic year is shaped. The sport officer assists with student led events and fundraisers, helping individuals and teams support both themselves and the causes they are most passionate about.
