FAQ's

We organise day trips around the UK, language exchange and social activities. Please fill in our feedback form if you feel there is something missing!

All our cultural events are student led, so what you are seeing is a representation of our most engaged students!

If you’d like to lead your own event, please fill in this form:

Yes! @ISG.MMU. You can also find our private Facebook group with 1.6k members “MMU international students”

No. You are automatically a member of the Students’ Union when you become a Manchester Met student. The International Student group is part of the student union offer, so no membership is needed.

We have many, come along to the Opportunities office if you want to have a chat. Here’s the first three things we’d do:

  • Join the International Student group Facebook group. Start making friends and find out about the next events and trips coming up for international students.
  • Sign up to a medical practice. As an international student you’ve paid the NHS Surcharge when acquiring your visa. However, you (And everyone in the UK) still need to register with a medical practice and have a designated GP (general practitioner/doctor). This is to let the GP surgery know that you exist, you’re in that area, and if you need a checkup or prescription, they are the ones to go to. This is a free service. Search for your GP
  • Take the train and discover a new city. For travelling around the UK, you can buy the 16 to 25 railcard for just £30. Once you have the railcard, you can purchase tickets for around the UK with a third off the regular adult price.

Not at all. The aim of this project is to create an international campus and encourage cultural connections. We welcome all Manchester Met students to attend our events and meet new people through cultural activities.

Yes. Less frequently that during the semester, but we always aim to have on campus activities you can engage with.
