The National Union of Students (NUS) National Conference and Liberation Conference are held each year to discuss NUS’ planning for the year ahead.
You can run to be an NUS delegate during the Student Officer Elections, which gives you the chance to attend the conferences and influence NUS decision-making on important student issues.
The NUS Liberation Conference will be held on Monday 15 and Tuesday 16 April, 2024 at Winter Gardens, Blackpool.
The NUS National Conference will be held on Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18 April, 2024 at Winter Gardens, Blackpool.
Every student at Manchester Met can run as a candidate in the NUS delegate elections and 8 candidates will be elected to attend by the Man Met student body. Nominations run alongside the Student Officer nominations, which are open now.
The NUS National Conference is an exciting three-day event, bringing together 1000 student delegates from student’s unions across the UK. Delegates will get the unique opportunity to elect the NUS leadership, including the NUS president, as well as voting on policy proposals.
The NUS Liberation Conference brings together Black*, Disabled, LGBT+, and Women students together to build communities of activists and plan campaigns. Manchester Met sends 6 students each year who self-define into the groups represented at Liberation Conference. For more info, contact s.u.voice@mmu.ac.uk.
*The term ‘Black’ is used by the NUS to refer to African, Asian, Arab and Caribbean people and those who self-define as Black
Voting for a Manchester Met candidate whose views and values on national student issues reflect yours, means you're contributing to an important national conversation about students’ rights and helping to shape the NUS for the year ahead. Voting for NUS delegates will take place from 4 - 8 March, so make sure to keep an eye out.
