This week, The Union hosted Q&A sessions, where we asked candidates running for the Student Officer roles all your burning questions.

Voting opens on Monday 4 March, so make sure to watch these Q&As to figure out which candidates you want to elect.

 


 

Wellbeing Officer

Starting off with the Wellbeing Officer candidates. The candidates discussed why they were running for the role and what special experience and skillsets they have that would make them a great Wellbeing Officer. Sports Officer

Next, was the Sports Officer Q&A where questions about all things Sport at the University and The Union were asked. Discussed were the issues of barriers to sport, participation and performance in sport, and what key things they’d like to see change around student sports offerings.

Education Officer

The Education Officer candidates are up next. Each candidate made their case for why they would be great as Education Officer and what skills they can bring from their backgrounds that will help them in the role.

Societies and Development Officer

The Societies and Devlopment Officer Candidates first dove into what it is that made them run for the role, with many candidates having been inspired by their own experiences of being in a society at Man Met. Key topics like society collaborations and barriers to joining societies were discussed by this year’s candidates.

President

Lastly, all the candidates running for president were asked your questions. Candidates discussed why they think they should lead your Students’ Union as President and how their prior experiences can help them do that. Important topics that affect students at Man Met were addressed, including accommodation, inclusivity and the Cost of Living crisis.
