How do Students’ Unions make decisions that are truly led by students? Increasingly, the answer lies in insight – collecting, analysing and acting on what students are telling us. This workshop will help SUs build their own capacity: what’s stopping your SU from doing more insight work? How can you apply and adapt insight to fit your context?
We’ll explore the value of dedicated research capacity within SUs, and why investing in this area is becoming essential to achieving real impact. Drawing on our experience as one of the few SUs with an in-house Research & Insight team, we’ll share how this work has transformed our approach to campaigns, representation and strategy.
This session is about making the case: research and insight aren’t a luxury – they’re a necessity for any modern SU aiming to be truly student-led and evidence-informed.
Staff working in clubs and societies, advice, student reps, democracy, governance, campaigning – anything within membership services across the UK.
