Universities and Students’ Unions both aim to support student success — so why do their relationships so often feel mistrustful, misaligned, or even adversarial? In this session, two former SU leaders reflect candidly on their experiences from both sides of the fence.
We’ll explore the roots of institutional suspicion, the “theatre” of partnership-building, and the wasted energy that goes into managing relationships instead of impact. Most importantly, we’ll ask: what would it take to default to trust, not suspicion? And what could we achieve if we did?
Staff working in clubs and societies, advice, student reps, democracy, governance, campaigning – anything within membership services across the UK.
