Volunteer administrator & receptionist at The Hub Job Club

The Job Club at The Hub provides a welcoming and supportive free drop-in service that helps local residents to search and apply for jobs, as well as boosting their confidence, skills and encouraging them to take ownership of their own job search. The centre has computers for job hunting, free WiFi and dedicated members of staff and volunteers to offer expertise and advice.

The role

This is an exciting time to get involved with lots of people coming through the doors, looking for employment support and training opportunities. With this in mind, we require a volunteer admin & receptionist to do a range of tasks which include;

  • Greeting new customers
  • Signing customers in
  • Booking people onto training
  • Booking people into appointments
  • Sending out reminder letters
  • Calling participants the day before (as a reminder)
  • Keeping the centre clean and tidy
  • Preparing/printing materials for the centre
  • Supporting people to log onto computers
  • Ordering refreshments
  • Preparing rooms for training delivery
  • Updating and maintaining spreadsheets
  • Updating customer information
  • Liaising with the Employment & Support Team
  • Updating survey results

Training

Volunteers will be provided with system training and be offered access to additional training, if eligible.

Volunteers need to show the following qualities:

  • Have had experience of working with IT in the work place
  • Good organisational skills
  • Good people skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Level 2 literacy (GCSE Grade C and above)
  • Able to work to deadlines
  • Savvy on the internet/Microsoft packages (especially Word & Excel)
  • Able to deal with times when it’s quiet and then times when it will be hectic
  • Calm and patient demeanor
