Action for Conservation (AFC) is an environmental education charity working with young people from across the UK to inspire the next generation of conservationists. We believe that a passion for conservation can flow through anyone's life, whatever their day-job. We want to inspire today's young people to a long-term belief in the wonder of the natural world, that shapes their dreams and actions however their life turns out. Our Mission: To bring the magic of nature into young people's lives, inspiring a youth movement committed to conservation and to the earth.
Our volunteers show young people what a real passion for the environment can look like and how varied careers in the sector are, whilst highlighting local environmental projects and campaigns for the students to link with. They help create a sense of wonder and, through their stories of hope, foster ongoing engagement.
Our current network of volunteers includes young professionals from Chester Zoo, University of Liverpool, Flora and Fauna International, Step Up To Serve, Friends of the Earth, Cambridge Conservation Initiative, Global Action Plan, Blue Marine Foundation, University of the West of England, Centre for Sustainable Energy, DEFRA, Imperial College, London Wildlife Trust and Natural England, among others.
Action for Conservation (AFC) is looking for passionate environmentalists to join their dynamic team of volunteer WildED workshop leaders in the North West region for this school year (2023-2024). If you are studying conservation, are an enthusiastic campaigner, or are interested in working with young people, this could be a great opportunity for you. Individuals from diverse backgrounds are also welcome in our organisation.
The WildED programme supports school/college students in delivering local environmental projects that have a positive impact on wildlife and increase their connection to nature. Volunteers help facilitate workshops and share their experiences of working/studying in the conservation sector, showing students what ‘real’ conservationists look like. Workshops are fun, rewarding, and a fantastic opportunity to showcase your experience and work with amazing young people!
If you don't currently have loads of conservation experience but you are still interested in the opportunity please don't hesitate to apply. We will be training you on the curriculum and providing you with the chance to expand on your knowledge in this area.
Full training will be provided - this will be on the evening of Monday 27th November.
If you are interested or have any questions then please email volunteer@actionforconservation.org
