We are students that support free education, oppose prevent and want to prioritise campaigns on mental health. We want to strengthen our links with trade unions across the education sector and support our staff in disputes with university management.

For Free Education: We want a free, accessible and liberated education system that is open to all and inclusive of a wide range of experiences. Education is a unique public good and we must fight to keep it in public hands.

Against Prevent: We agree that Prevent is not working and disproportionately targets muslim students and black students in our University. Prevent’s tactics of limiting extremism is legitimising racism and the freedom of expression for black students in colleges and universities. NUS must have a strong opposition to Prevent and aid student activists fighting Prevent.

Mental Health: We are for competent and effective approaches to tackling the mental health crisis in colleges and universities. NHS services are insufficient and overbooked and services at colleges and universities are not consistent. We advocate pragmatic and transformative policies in unions that appropriately address issues.

Strong Links With Trade Unions: A free and democratic education system is nothing if we leave education staff out of the equation. NUS must make it easier for individual student unions to partner with their respective staff unions so staff and students can liberate education hand-in-hand.
