Crewe'Chella, taking place outside The Union in Crewe on Friday 18 May, is a final get together for the students in Cheshire. Organised by Shannon Weekes in collaboration with Booth Hall's Residential Advisors, the day will have deluxe disco dome bouncy castle, wild west cactus themed hoopla, bubbles, candy floss, popcorn, slushies and ice cream - the campus will have that perfect festival feeling!

We chatted with Shannon (third year, Drama) about the day.

What’s happening on the day?

"The event starts at 1pm and there is an inflatable bungee run and an inflatable disco dome. Mr Whippy will be down, so students can grab a free ice cream. There is also a popcorn machine, slushy machine and candy floss machine. We will be playing music outside and be playing small games through the day. The bar will be open through the day for people to bring refreshments over."

What inspired you to organise Crewe'Chella?

"I wanted to use Project Cheshire to put on an event similar to an ‘all day rave’ that the Cheshire campus has held in the past. Unfortunately last year the MMUC fun day was cancelled due to adverse weather, so I wanted to make sure it happened this year!"

Why should people come down on the day?

"It will be a fun, chilled out day - perfect for having a break from uni work and celebrating the end of year. It will be one of the last occasions for the two years at the campus to mingle together. Also there’s free stuff (which students always love!)"

What’s next for you? Are you graduating this year? Have you got anything planned for your summer?

"I’ve recently got a job as an Activities Coordinator for a neurological care centre, so I’ll be able to use elements from my degree in Drama to entertain and make events! I’ll be staying in Crewe (can’t get away!)

We hope everyone enjoys Crewe'Chella.

If you want to put an event on, you can apply for funding through Project Cheshire, and make your idea a reality.
