If you’re reading this, it means we’re in a lockdown. So, your trusted introvert is back with another How To blog with some tips on how you might want to handle it. If you’re reading this from the future and you’re not in a lockdown (I’m jealous, how is it?!) this might just be good advice to take care of yourself anyway.
Don’t worry be happy
First things first, make sure your mental health is in check because once you get control of that, you have the physical strength to do everything else. Do things that make you happy and talk to the people that are important to you. If exercising or reading gets you into a positive mindset then go ahead, do everything that is legally possible. We don’t want another stressed depressed lemon zest moment from the first time. Plus, you never know, you might accidentally bump into a friend that you can chat to on your socially distanced walk.
Find something new to do
How many hobbies did you pick up from the first lockdown? Not enough. Which is why I’m suggesting that you pick up some more. I’ll be honest, I still can’t cook and I no longer want to live off of ramen noodles so that’s something I’m doing. Maybe you want to learn to knit something for winter or become the next Picasso. I also write poetry to escape from Karen in the food aisle who bought 18 tins of peeled tomatoes.
Budget
Talking of spending, let’s talk about how you can save some cha-ching as a university student. Make a list of your spending habits. Do you really need to spend £30 on a giant teddy bear? What if Aldi priced brands are just as good as Tesco or Morrisons? Don’t remember the last time you went to the gym? Well maybe it’s time to say goodbye to the membership. Of course it’s important to treat yourself, but know your limits.
Time is precious
Every day may feel the same but the clock is still ticking so better get cracking on stuff you’ve been avoiding! Maybe you need to do a bit of a spring clean, handle your finances and maybe even get a head start on some of your deadlines. Use your time whilst you have it instead of using all of it on unproductivity. Trust me, you’ll feel a lot better for saving the last episode of your favourite show after sorting out the messy pile of chores from the last lockdown. Of course, don’t forget to also reward yourself for the things you do.
Tech is your friend
Finally, as we all are unfortunately (for some) spending most of our time indoors, why not use what you have to your advantage? We’re all aware of the famous Microsoft Teams, it’s a great way to keep in contact with the classmates you miss most. On the bright side, you can change the background if you want to feel like you are in mother nature’s company. Get creative with the socials, make friends from around the world. Because no matter where you are, someone else is definitely going through the same as you. They don’t call it a Worldwide pandemic for the fun of it.
Well, this is the end from me. I wish you luck and may you solemnly swear that you are up to no good.
