Pride blog

Hi everyone! I’m Lily Smith, your new Community Officer and welcome to my first (and probably not that well written) blog!

Over the last few weeks, myself, students from the LGBT+ society and The Union have been working away getting ready for Manchester Pride. We’ve been doing everything and anything from creative workshops, visiting the People’s History Museum archives, having meetings and liaising with the university.

This year’s Manchester Pride starts on 26 August and is all over the bank holiday weekend with the theme ‘Class of 2017’, so watch out for those mortor boards, pom poms and rainbow flags.

This year we are entering a float and walking entry to the parade, which is being decorated by students. After the parade, all the student made decorations will be put on display at No 70, Oxford Road – so even if you miss us on Saturday, you can still see our beautiful handiwork!

Worried you’ve missed all the pride fun? Never fear, we still have things going on this week!

On Friday from 9am, in room 6 & 7 in The Union, we have a coffee morning, so you can come and meet everyone that is going to Pride over the weekend. After coffee, we will be setting off to decorate the float ready for the parade!

There are events taking place over the weekend so check out what else is happening here.

Have an amazing Pride weekend everyone!
