Planning on paying us a visit over summer? Check out our opening times first.
As we move into February, for some people, their mental wellbeing can dip. With Valentine’s Day around the corner, those of us without romantic partners can feel left out when surrounded by celebrating couples and those in love.
Well, this February we want to celebrate the idea that ‘Love is for Everyone’. Some would say that love is the most powerful force in existence. Love can transform lives for the better. But this is not limited to romantic love, as there are actually four types of love:
+ Eros, the passionate love we have for our romantic partners
+ Philia, the love we have for friends and equals
+ Storge, the love we have for parents and chidlren,
+ And finally Agape, the love we have for humankind.
There’s plenty of love to go around for everyone. Lean into philia love this month and plan a get-together with your friends or course mates. Visit the Trafford Centre and grab dinner at the Great Burger Company, before watching the new Ant-Man movie. Make sure to take some fun snaps with each other to remember the day.
If this month is about storge love for you, why not make gift baskets for your parents, or for family who’ve had a great impact on your life. Gather some family photos and their favourite sweet things. End the day off with a homecooked meal or your favourite takeaway, coupled with a classic Disney movie.
To embrace the age-old concept of agape love, you can register as a volunteer with The Union. Share your love with organisations that need helping hands to care for communities and individuals who need it the most.
Most of all, take this month to learn how to love yourself. Spend a few days doing your favourite things, maybe a spa day, a countryside walk or baking a cake. Take the time to slow down, be mindful and really pamper yourself. Smile and laugh for no reason.
February is about love, and love is for everyone.
