At a glamourous event organised by Manchester Activities Officer Owen Jones, the winners of the Sports Ball Awards 2018 were announced.

Held this year at The Principal Hotel on Oxford Road, over 400 students attended and enjoyed a Monte Carlo themed evening, compéred by comedian Dan Nightingale. Guests were treated to a three course meal, with an after party at The Union.

20 students received their MMU Sports Colours, and 30 students graduating this year received their Club Colours.

Also presented was the Brownhill Evans Memorial Award, created in memory of James Brownhill and David Evans. Both young men were active members of a number of clubs within Opportunities at The Union, and were sadly killed in a fall while climbing close to Chamonix, France in July 2011. The award recognises an individual who has shown outstanding commitment and contributions to multiple clubs.
