Christmas on a student budget is already tight – but you still want to treat your best friends at uni. Well, we’ve tried and tested something that is guaranteed to be festive fun without breaking the bank.

Presenting: Pound shop Secret Santa

It works like normal Secret Santa, the only other rule is that you must spend a total of £1 (purchased from a pound shop is recommended, but not compulsory).

Four of your officers tested this to see how well such a cheap gift exchange can go down.

Lucy’s gift

Who was it from? Lucy guessed it was from Ross and was correct.
The immediate verdict: “For 99p to get two pugs in one pack and so much Christmas joy and fun, I have to rate it 5 out of 5”.
The next day verdict: Still 5 out of 5. They’re brightening my desk however falling appart slightly!

Ross’ Present

Who was it from? Ross correctly guessed it was from Anna.
The immediate verdict: “Oh my god this is brilliant, how did you know. 5 out of 5 because it lights up.”
Next day verdict: “Mines still 100% working and 100% annoying so I’m still going for a 5!”

Andy’s Present

Who was it from? Andy guessed Lucy, and was correct (and at this point the other option would have been himself.).
The immediate verdict: Despite confusing the wrapping to a McDonald’s wrapper, Andy said “I’d give it 5 out of 5 because it’s very festive and you can drink out of it.”
Next day verdict: Still 5/5, would drink from again.

Anna’s Present

Who was it from? Anna guessed Andy correctly due to process of elimination. Andy commented that he chose this gift for Anna’s cosplay.
The immediate verdict: 5/5 because I can attack Ross in the office all the time.
Next day review: I’m going to have to knock mine down to a 4/5 since I did break it… oops.
