Your questions about uni: answered

Thursday 17-09-2020 - 14:34

We know there’s lots of confusing rules flying around and they're changing all the time. We’re here to help.

Last week, we asked students what concerns or questions they had about uni right now, so we could try and break down the answers and make them as simple as possible to understand. Here goes:

Where do I need to wear a face mask?

+ Whenever you're moving around uni buildings

+ When you're going in and out of classrooms

+ In all communal areas

These rules don't apply if you’re exempt (e.g. you have a disability which means you can’t wear one).

Where does the rule of 6 apply?

+ Everywhere on campus apart from classrooms and lecture halls

+ You can socialise with your household when at home no matter how many people live there (e.g. if there's 10 people in your uni flat, you can still have a meal in your shared kitchen but you can’t all go to Tesco together)

+ You can't socialise with people who aren't in your household when you're inside or on the grounds of your uni accommodation

How do I book a library slot?

+ You can now book individual study spaces, PCs and Macs for up to 2 hours at a time

+ You can't book group spaces (even for groups of 6) due to social distancing

+ Go to libcal.mmu.ac.uk/reserve to book

Whats the deal with timetables?

+ Your timetable can (hopefully) be found by going to MyTimetable on MyMMU

+ If you still haven't got yours, contact the Student Hubs who will help

If you have any questions or you're not sure about something, let us know and we’ll try and clear it up.

By following the guidelines, you'll be keeping yourself, other students and your wider Manchester community safe.
