A couple of weeks ago I was approached by a woman asking for money to buy food and I've never felt comfortable giving homeless people money as I'm not sure what they are going to spend the money and so it gave me the idea that we should be allowed to donate money from our metcards to charities that we support. I know that not everyone gets money on their metcard and those who do feel restricted on what they can buy, so I thought it would be a good way to use the money if you don't feel you can with your own earnings. I'm not sure of the logistics of it all and have contacted the met card team who have passed it on, but I haven't heard anything since and know it will be a good way for our students giving back.
