Get Support with the University’s Success Fund

Tuesday 11-11-2025 - 11:12

Financial Focus is a key priority for your Student Officer team this year. They’re working on quick, practical ways to get money back into students’ pockets and one of the biggest opportunities is the Success Fund.

The Success Fund is a non-repayable bursary offering between £200 and £1,500 per year of study to help students who need extra financial support. You don’t have to pay it back, and the deadline to apply is 19 December, so make sure you get your application in as soon as possible.

The important stuff

  • The Success Fund is for UK undergraduate students starting a course after 1 August 2025
  • You must have a UK student support number (you get this when you apply for your funding via Student Finance England/Student Finance Wales/Student Finance NI or Student Awards Agency Scotland)
  • You must be in a key group, such as carers, care leavers/care experienced, estranged students or students with a disability. The full list is on the Success Fund webpage
  • Make sure to apply before you need financial support if you can, as processing can take up to four weeks

Before You Start

  • Make sure you’re enrolled
  • You’ll need a digital copy of your full tenancy agreement
  • You’ll need screenshots of your online banking showing all accounts in your name and their current balances (if you have multiple accounts, include them all)
  • You won’t be able to move to the next page of the form without uploading these files.

Step-by-Step: How to Apply

1. Enrol and sign in

You must be fully enrolled before you can access the Success Fund form. Once enrolled, sign in to the Digital Student Hub, the application form will only appear once you’re logged in.

2. Check your eligibility

The Success Fund is only open to new students who started their course this academic year (1 August 2025 onwards) and belong to a key group (full list here).

3. Complete the form

The form has six quick sections and takes around 10 minutes to complete. You can only submit one application per year, so if you’ve started a draft, make sure to complete that one rather than starting a new one.

4. Upload your documents

Make sure to upload your tenancy agreement and banking screenshots — you can’t submit the form without them.

5. Keep an eye on your inbox

If your application doesn’t have the right information, it’ll be marked as ‘cannot process’, but don’t worry — it’ll be reactivated once you send the correct details. Check your student email regularly for updates.
