2017 sees the return of Give It Don’t Bin It, the student move-out collection and recycling campaign, which encourages you to donate your unwanted clothes, books, electricals and unopened, non-perishable food to charity to help those in need.

When you move out of your accommodation, simply drop your unwanted items at a local donation bank and recycle your waste.

This collaborative project with the University of Manchester and their Student’s Union, Manchester Student Homes and Manchester City Council ensures that your items go to the British Heart Foundation and Manchester Central Foodbankto raise funds and redistribute food to the people who need it.

Last year students donated an amazing 124 tonnes of items to the British Heart Foundation, which raised a massive £230,723 to help support lifesaving research and treatments, and funded 51 research grants43 defibrillators38 CPR kits and more. Students also donated the equivalent of 1360 meals, which helped local people experiencing food poverty.

If you want to find out more or get involved, visit the Give It Don’t Bin It website.
