Just in time for Halloween, the Nursing Society – in partnership with the VIVIT Experience – are bringing a live dissection the The Union. Yes – that’s right…live dissection at The Union.

Fear not though – this isn’t a real human body, just a recreated one. VIVIT is the life size synthetic cadaver, which will be dissected to teach the audience the structure and function of the human body. Using anatomy of spent swine origin, attendees have a chance to see, touch and feel the dissection of the major anatomical cavities and the organs and organ systems.

There will also be the opportunity to ask questions and attendees can handle the anatomical samples, and even take the chance to undertake some dissection. Supported by real cadaveric imagery, the team boast that they will demonstrate human anatomy like never seen before.

The event also includes a brief history of human dissection, beginning right back with Hippocrates through to Grey’s Anatomy, the birth of the NHS (which was in Trafford if you didn’t know), and finally on into the modern age. If you’re a medical student, studying biosciences, health, sports or anything that requires an understanding of advanced anatomy and physiology (or even just interested in the macabre – looking at you MMU Gothic Studies), this isn’t one to be missed.

Tickets for the event are £38.32 for the full day event, lasting from 10:00 – 15:00 with an hour lunch break.
