Support for students affected by the Hotspur Press fire

On 23 June 2025 the Hotspur Press Building caught fire, significantly impacting residents in neighbouring buildings, including many students in 1 Cambridge Street "The Assembly

 

We understand that many tenants were affected during the evacuation and that, regrettably, there is currently no confirmed timeframe from the building management regarding when you may safely return to your accommodation.

The Union and our partners at Manchester Student Homes remain committed to supporting all affected students during this challenging period. If you are experiencing difficulties in securing temporary accommodation or require any advice, please do not hesitate to contact us at simon.pau@manchester.ac.uk.

We also strongly advise you to retain all receipts and documentation relating to any additional expenses incurred as a result of the incident. These may be necessary for potential insurance claims or reimbursement from the building management.
