Teaching Awards 2026: Celebrate the people who make uni amazing

Monday 16-02-2026 - 09:48

The Teaching Awards is our annual celebration hosted by The Union, giving you the chance to recognise and appreciate the University staff who’ve helped make your time here truly exceptional.

Each year, we open nominations for a full month, culminating in a sparkling yellow‑carpet awards night at The Union. Across Manchester Met, thousands of staff members pour their passion into their work, striving to make your university experience the best it can be.

It doesn’t stop there either, everything they do is also geared towards helping you build strong employability skills, making sure you’re ready to take on the world when you leave uni.

Nominations for this year’s awards are now open and will close on Friday 13 March.

Your submissions are your chance to give back to any staff member that’s stood out to you throughout your course.

There are nine categories to choose from, please feel free to submit multiple nominations too. Here's the full list:

+ Teacher of the Year

+ Course of the Year

+ Department of the Year

+ Outstanding Teaching for Employability

+ Outstanding Teaching for Sustainability

+ Supervisor of the year

+ Outstanding Commitment to Inclusive Learning and Teaching

+ Outstanding Commitment to Student Wellbeing and Support

+ Outstanding Technician

+ Digital Innovation Award (sponsored by Adobe)

Unsure which award you want to nominate someone for? Have a read of the judging criteria.

We want to pass on the best possible nominations to your teachers, and the judging panel will be looking for the most personal stories from you guys to help them make their decision.

So, when you’re nominating, have a think about how this person has affected your experience, your life at Manchester Met, and your future.

We can't wait to share the shortlist with you - watch this space.
