Record breaking voter turnout to elect our 2026/27 Officer team
We are so proud to announce the newly elected Student Officer team who will represent students at Manchester Metropolitan University for the 2026/27 academic year.
This year’s elections made history. With an incredible 8,353 votes cast, this marks the highest number of votes ever received in our Student Officer Elections. It’s a true testament to the strength, passion and engagement of our student community.
A total of 40 candidates campaigned tirelessly from 23–26 February, each sharing their vision for the future of The Union. Instead of traditional manifestos this year, candidates put forward bold and inspiring vision statements, outlining the change they wanted to see and the impact they hoped to make.
Campaign week brought fantastic energy to campus. From vibrant social media campaigns to megaphones, drums and plenty of noise, candidates made sure their voices, and their visions were heard. The atmosphere across campus was electric, building momentum right up to results day.
The results were announced in front of a live audience on the afternoon of 26 February.
Drum roll for your 2026/27 Student Officer Team…
We would like to congratulate our newly elected officers and thank every single candidate who stood in this year’s election. Putting yourself forward to lead and represent your peers is no small commitment, and the passion shown by all 40 candidates was inspiring.
The new Officer team will officially begin their roles on 1 July 2026, when they will start working full-time to represent and champion the voices of students at Manchester Met.
Thank you to everyone who voted and took part, you made this our biggest and most exciting election yet.
