I spent three years spending money on bad food, so you don’t have to. Here’s my top halal restaurants and cuisines in Manchester.

1. Asian Fusion

Fuzion Noodle Bar

  • - Venture down into Fallowfield to try my personal favourite food place on this list; Fusion Noodle Bar. The restaurant is laidback and perfect for any size group. For those going for their first time, I recommend the Chicken Katsu Udon Noodles and the Korean chicken wings you just can’t go wrong with it.

Fuku

  • If you don’t fancy the trek from campus, Fuku inside Hatch (which is just next to the Tesco on oxford road) has a range of comfort food, each dish as mouth-watering as the next.

2. Korean

Chimaek

  • Chimaek is one of the closest restaurants on my list to the MMU campus, and is my favourite Korean restaurant but for those who can’t handle spice…. I’d say avoid it! They have an amazing interior with a great dining atmosphere and have a range of flavours you can pick from.

3. Indian

My Lahore’s

  • Selling authentic Indian and Pakistani food, My Lahore’s is one of my favourite places to eat in Manchester. They have a range of food to choose from and the atmosphere is always great.

4. American

Toros steakhouse

  • Just opposite My Lahore is Toros steakhouse. The atmosphere is great for large parties and has an amazing range of American comfort food that’ll leave you in a food coma.

5. Mexican

Don Tacos

  • Based at the start of Wilmslow Road, Don Tacos serves the authentic Mexican food that has the BEST birria tacos. They’ve got a range of halal dishes available, so you’re spoilt for choice!

6. Turkish

Istanbul Restaurant Manchester

  • Istanbul Restaurant Manchester, Based at Bury Old Road you can find huge portions of great tasting food authentic Turkish Cuisine. This is probably the bougiest* place on my list so it’s perfect if you want to go somewhere fancy.

*any place that has a neutral colour scheme is bougie to me

7. Lebanese

Comptoir Libanais

  • Situated in Spinningfields with delicious food, reasonable prices and full of Lebanese flavours, Comptoir Libanais has got to be on your list of places to visit. The amazing traditional Lebanese décor really makes it a lovely atmosphere to dine here.

8. African and Caribbean

Manjaros

  • Based on Wilmslow Road, Manjaros cuisine is based on a blend of African and Caribbean food, with a vast range of flavours of spices, and the portions are massive - perfect to share with your friends and family. Their menu is extensive so there’s loads of options to choose from – you can’t go wrong.

If you fancy cooking at home, here’s a few places you can go to get halal meat and groceries:

  • In Rusholm, there’s the Midway Halal Food Store and Worldwide Foods has a range of Halal meat
  • In Withington, you can find Nassar Halal Meat or Gulzar's Halal Family Butchers
