At the end of May, the Diversity and Inclusion Ambassadors had an end of year meetup, to reflect our achievements so far  and to plan some exciting events for Welcome Week.

I chaired a roundtable, where everyone fed back what they have done this term, such as creating a leaflet and planning a vlog on the best places to study on campus, as well as liaising with the University's Careers staff.

We have started planning a range of events for students to get involved in during the weeks before university starts. We hope to have a ‘Join us after Jummah’ session after Friday muslim prayers, for people to get to know each other and feel connected. For all of our events during Fresher`s week, we have planned to give food (because you can`t run student events without food, am I right!?)

We are also running a ‘Home students hangout’ for people who will be living at home, because we believe that no one should be left out - we want to give you a taste of social life at university, before you begin your real journey!

At the beginning of the project, our team had to give their personal aims for the project. In the end of year session, we got creative! Here are our reflections:

Next, we all had to tell a story in six words about our journey through the project so far. We always enjoy having a laugh - I’ve given a selection here with some of the ‘bloopers’ removed…

“Amazing, Inspiring people making a change” - Fatima

“I have met my Second Family” - Iffath

“The journey is not over yet”- Mehedi

We want to ensure that we would do our absolute best to help improve the experience of all students at university.

Keep up to date with the latest gossip and stay tuned for the next blog!
