Manchester is well known as a bright and busy city, with towering buildings and a lively social scene. Whilst lots of people thrive in this environment, you might be wondering what green spaces you can get to whilst living in Manchester.
Getting out into nature can be a great way to take a break from fast-paced city life or go for an adventure. Here’s a few places you can easily get to from Manchester.
If you’re looking for stunning views and peaceful surroundings, the Peak District is the place to be. Hop on a train from Manchester Piccadilly and jump off anywhere along the Hope Valley line.
There’s hundreds of trails you can follow, with routes suited to both beginners and experienced hikers. Even if walking isn’t for you, there’s plenty of places to stop for a pub lunch or a pint.
Known best for hosting Parklife festival, when it’s not a hub of music and festival goers, Heaton park has acres of green space for you to explore. You can easily get to Heaton Park by jumping on a Metrolink tram from the city centre.
Follow the paths round the park, admire the deer, or take out a pedal boat on the lake, the choice is yours! Bonus points for the ice-cream trucks positioned around the park.
For somewhere you can walk to, why not visit Victoria Mill Park. Located just outside the city centre, here you can take a walk along the Rochdale canal or bring some friends along for a picnic (if the Manchester weather allows it).
If you’re having a study sesh in the library or have time to kill between lectures, All Saints Park is the perfect place to quickly take a break outside. Located at the heart of campus opposite the library, here you can bring your meal deal or grab something from the food truck on Oxford Road.
