Free events for Manchester students this April

Friday 01-04-2022 - 10:43

Here is this month’s guide from The Union on free events around Manchester in April.

The Salutation: Open Mic Night

Where? – The Salutation Pub

When? - 20:30 on Friday 29 April

The Union's own pub, one of Manchester's oldest and finest is hosting an open mic night

Don’t worry – you won’t be expected to jump on stage and perform a tune, just sit back, and relax. The performers have been invited to perform by The Sal so there'll be no spontaneous renditions on the night.

However, if you do fancy your chances at the next one, get in touch on social media to register your interest and get the ball rolling.

The event is free, but we recommend you getting to The Sal at about 19:00 or before to secure a seat.

Manchester Jobs Fair

Where? – Old Trafford Stadium, Sir Matt Busby Way

When? – 10:00 – 13:00 on Friday 8 April

If you’re in need of some career’s advice, help with your CV, or just want to explore potential opportunities, this event is for you.

There’ll also be opportunities for training courses and self-employment positions too. So don’t feel put off if you don’t have a clear direction of where you want to be. You might find the perfect opening in a sector you hadn’t even considered.

Tickets are free and should be booked online in advance.

Pianoke

Where? – Theatre 53two, Watson Street

When? – 20:30 on Thursday 7 and Thursday 21 April

Like Karaoke, but with a piano. Theatre 53two are putting their baby grand piano to use by playing all your requests for you to sing along to. Get involved and put on a show with your favourite pop tunes.

If you don’t fancy singing – no problem. Sit back, be the judge, and enjoy the show.

More information can be found on List, and tickets should be booked in advance to avoid missing out.

If you’re a fan of Peaky Blinders (who isn’t), get yourself to Manchester’s own Peaky Blinders bar for the ultimate season 6 experience.

The bar will be setting up the ‘perfect atmosphere’ for all you super fans, ready for the showings at 20:00.

The first 50 ticket holders will also get a free Peaky Spirit and mixer, so don’t forget to get that ticked booked.
