Emerald City – Manchester Irish Festival

This month sees a showcase of the best of the Irish community in the city, with live music and markets at Albert Square, plus the annual St Patrick’s Day parade on Sunday 10 March. Explore the culture and of course, enjoy some of the traditional tipples on offer (responsibly please.)

Need somewhere to see the sport? St Patrick’s Day Weekender at The Union

Will the luck of the Irish be with them on Six Nations final day? See the action live on the big screen on Saturday, with the football taking centre stage on Sunday. There’s food and drinks deals and an Irish themed playlist to enjoy all weekend long.

For little ones – Feminist craft event for International Women’s Day

There's lots happening to recognise the day in Manchester, but this craft event for kids is a top pick. Decorate a suffragette sash or write a letter to your hero – just book a slot to reserve your place. If you’ve not been to HOME yet, it’s well worth the trip, with an exhibition space and student discounts on offer too – the Reel Deal on Mondays and Tuesdays is the perfect pick-me-up at the start of the week.

Da Vinci on your doorstep at Manchester Art Gallery

Commemorating 500 years since the artist’s death, see a sample of Leonardo Da Vinci’s work from the Royal Collection – the free exhibition has been hugely popular so why not pop along on a Wednesday late? The gallery is open until 21:00 every first Wednesday of the month.

Born in Timperley: Frank Sidebottom exhibition and film at Manchester Central Library

March sees the release of a new film documenting the life of Chris Sievey, the man behind the famous massive head, along with a display of archive material. Exploring his music and the persona of Frank Sidebottom, the Library has been fully “Franked up” to celebrate the life of a talented artist and performer. Bobbins.
