Join our new online community - Introducing The Union Unfiltered.
This Black History Month UK, the theme is Standing Firm in Power and Pride. Find out what is happening at The Union and in Manchester this October.
This month provides the opportunity to share and celebrate the impact of people of Caribbean and African heritage, their culture and impact on British history and the present day. This Black History Month, we not only learn from the past but celebrate the present and look to the future when exercising courage, pride and vision in our everyday lives.
At The Union, this is not a token month boxed into October but it's about recognising that Black history is world history, amplified through Black voices and celebrated as an ongoing legacy by all where race represents the richness that diversity brings to British culture.
Join us for Film Nights and Quiz and Culture with prizes to be won.
As of this year, there’s been an evening filled with all things Black hair, mental health, and culture showcasing a panel from Bafta-nominated short film Weave, and many more!
We have also welcomed our Inclusion ambassadors this semester who aim to work towards initiatives that are accessible, meaningful, and of which build stronger and more connected communities here at Manchester Met.
