As my two years as your sports sabbatical officer come to an end, I’m feeling a mix of pride, gratitude, and excitement for what’s next, both for me and the incredible student community here at Manchester Met that I’ve been lucky enough to represent.
These past couple of years have genuinely been life-changing. Together, we’ve championed student welfare, broken taboos, and created spaces where everyone feels seen, heard, and celebrated.
One of the biggest highlights during my role would have to be SHAG Week (Sexual Health Awareness and Guidance). It was our biggest and boldest one yet! We had a record-breaking three full STD test completions (the most ever for a northern-based campaign like this).

Everyone showed up, gave it their all, and made it a day to remember.
As I get ready to hand things over, I just want to say a massive thank you. Whether you joined in, asked the big questions, challenged the norm, or simply cheered us on from the sidelines, you made this role something really special.
Big love,
Sav
