As part of a student led project in collaboration with The Union and MMU Sport Volunteering, there's a chance to take part in a five-a-side football fundraiser for Street2Feet on Thursday 15 March.

Street2Feet is a project that focuses on using football inclusively to target disadvantaged youths and young people who are directly affected by homelessness.

This is the third year the project is been run with the University, but this is the first time a five-a-side tournament has been held to raise funds. Teams are being asked to donate between £25-£100 to take part in the tournament and all proceeds will go towards supporting homeless groups through football provision. There will be a presentation and awards ceremony offered at the end of the day.

Dan Roberts, Sport Volunteering Assistant at The Union, took part in last year's football event and said:

"Homelessness isn’t a choice, but doing something about it is, and an easy one at that. This event taught me that you can learn so much from someone just by giving them the time of day."

The tournament is being held at Powerleague Manchester, (20 Union Street, Manchester, M12 4JD) and to enter a team email Street_2_Feet@outlook.com with your team name and captain.

The Union and MMU have both made pledges to the Manchester Homelessness Charter, which aims to bring together people, organisations and businesses to end homelessness. For more information about this, please visit the Street Support website.
