Student Festival Survival Guide

Sunday 07-06-2026 - 10:00

Festival season is a major highlight of the uni summer, especially after months of lectures, deadlines and exams. Whether you’re going with housemates, course friends or your whole flat, a bit of preparation can make the experience way more enjoyable (and a lot less stressful).

Fuel for the Weekend

It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement, but the basics matter for a long festival weekend. Staying hydrated, eating properly and pacing yourself with alcohol help you last from the first act to the headliners.

Simple snacks, regular water breaks and knowing your limits can help you avoid burning out too early and so you can enjoy the full festival experience. Future you will thank you.

Safe, Sorted and Staying Together

Before you go, sort your journey home so you’re not stressing at the end of the night. Save taxi numbers, check train times and don’t rely on signal when everyone’s leaving at once.

Keep valuables like phones and student IDs secure in zipped pockets or a small bag. It’s also worth sticking with your group, sharing your live location and agreeing on meeting points in case you get separated in the chaos.

Pro tip: Change your lockscreen to include the phone-number of a mate in case it gets lost in the crowds.

The Festival Must-Haves (and common mistakes to avoid)

Small things can make a big difference across the weekend. Earplugs help protect your hearing (especially if you’re close to the main stage all day), a power bank keeps your phone alive for tickets, photos and finding friends, and having emergency contacts saved gives extra peace of mind.

Be careful with tickets too, only use official sites or trusted resale platforms, as fake listings are common during festival season, especially in student group chats and social media pages.

For uni students, festivals are one of the biggest highlights of summer. With a bit of planning and awareness, you can avoid unnecessary stress, stay safe and make the most of the experience with your friends from start to finish.
