Teaching Awards 2020

Now in its tenth year, the annual ceremony celebrates excellent teaching at Manchester Met. Students share their stories with us about the teachers who go out of their way to make their learning experience the best it can be.

The Union received even more nominations from students than last year, with a total of 1134, and over 700 alone for the Teacher of the Year award. In the nominations, students praised staff for “constructive feedback”, “phenomenal support” and “inspirational teaching”.

Lucy Follon, Education officer, said “the awards can't happen the way we originally planned, but we still want to celebrate excellent teaching over the last year at Manchester Met.

Over the last few months as well, it’s been lovely to see how teaching teachers have kept students and learning at the heart of what they do, and to those who’ve gone the extra mile – your efforts won’t be forgotten by students. So truly, thank you”.

There are 11 awards designed to recognise those fantastic teaching at Manchester Met – all entries are judged anonymously against a set of criteria by a team made up of students, Union staff and representatives from the University.
