What to do in Manchester this Autumn: From your Sports Officer

Tuesday 28-10-2025 - 10:16

Hey! I’m Imogen, your Sports Officer here at Manchester Met. Autumn’s finally here 🍂, and there’s so much going on in and around Manchester! From some of my fave coffee spots to wholesome activities, I’ve rounded up some of the best ways to make the most of the city

☕ Coffee Spots

Go grab a coffee and a pastry in one of the many coffee shops in Northern quarter and take a wander round the city centre.

Some of my faves are...

But honestly, just take a walk around and you’ll find a great spot!

👖 Get Thrifting

Why not go charity or vintage shopping for some new Winter wardrobe staples! Some of my favourite pieces have come from either a charity shop or vintage sale, and its so much cheaper and sustainable.

There’s loads of places to go in the Northern Quarter.

✨Wholesome Vibes

Need a break from assignments? Here are a few easy ways to switch off and do something fun around Manchester.

  • The Manchester Bake-Off Experience🍰

Grab your mates and book a session at The Big Bakes. It’s basically your chance to live out your Great British Bake-Off dream.

  • Pottery Painting at The Pottery Corner🎨

The Pottery Corner in Chorlton is another great shout. You pay per piece, bring your own drinks, and paint at your own pace. It’s relaxed, creative, and ideal for a chill evening with your mates.

🌲Get Outside

When deadlines start stacking up and the days feel shorter, getting some fresh air can really help reset your brain.

If you’ve got a bit of time, head out to the Peak District, it’s basically on our doorstep. For something closer, check out Whitworth Park or Fletcher Moss Gardens for a quick walk and some greenery.

🔥Plus, since it’s almost Bonfire Night, it’s worth catching a local display. You can find one near you here.

🦴Museums & Galleries

Rainy day? No problem. Manchester’s packed with museums and galleries that are perfect for a wander when you need a break.

Whether you’re into art, science, or just want somewhere quiet to think, there’s plenty to explore.
