Your Student Officers for the 2018/19 academic year have been revealed.

At a sparkling ceremony held in the Main Hall at The Union this evening (15 March), the six successful candidates were announced live in front of an audience of fellow students and Union staff.

Amie Atkinson will be your next Students’ Union President with Andy Young your next Vice President Cheshire.

The highly anticipated event, which featured performances from Jess Stoddard, Basiks and the Open Mic student group, celebrated the hard work and passion that all candidates have put into their campaigns over the previous weeks.

Results were presented by The Union’s Chief Executive, Matt Robinson and current President, Hussain El-Amin. Current Education Officer Luca Raimo and current Activities Manchester Officer Owen Jones hosted the event.

A total of 3544 students cast their vote to choose who will lead The Union next academic year. This year also saw the exciting introduction of three new roles. Society and Sports Club members will now each have an officer dedicated to them, and the Wellbeing Officer will focus on non-academic issues affecting student life at university.

The new Student Officer team will start in the summer when they will become the voice of 36,000 students at Manchester Met.
