Youth Worker (Junior Zone)

Details Hide[-]

At Mahdlo Youth Zone, our Junior members (aged 8-12) can take part in a range of different activities including: arts and crafts, board games, climbing, cricket, dance, drama, football, gym, pool, table tennis, trips outdoors and more. Our state-of-the-art building also gives young people the space to relax with their peers, watch a film, listen to music - ultimately, we aim to give young people somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to. To achieve this, we require a dedicated team who can run exciting activities and really be there for young people in Oldham.

A Youth Worker will have:

  • A genuine desire to make a difference to children and young people in the Oldham community
  • A willingness to join a diverse and dynamic volunteer team
  • An interest in working in a high energy environment
  • A willingness to nurture young people from all backgrounds: class, religious beliefs, physical ability
  • An understanding of confidentiality and respect the need to maintain this
  • Ability to implement a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory approach

Volunteers will assist in the running and supervision of activities in the Youth Zone and are also invited to run their own activities so young people can make the most of Mahdlo. There are opportunities to access Mahdlo training sessions to build your knowledge and skillset. Team Mahdlo is a friendly and welcoming workforce who are passionate about celebrating the success of young people and staff achievements.

Mahdlo is based on Egerton Street in Oldham, a 5-minute walk from the tram stops (Oldham Central and Oldham Mumps) as well as Oldham Bus Station. We reimburse our volunteers' travel expenses up to the value of £5. We really appreciate our volunteers giving their time to help us be there for young people in Greater Manchester so get involved!
