Feel Good Friday: How to get involved in this free, monthly event

Tuesday 13-12-2022 - 17:09

Feel Good Friday is back and better than ever, with free events planned throughout the 2022/23 academic year for Manchester Met students.

Feel Good Friday is an event that takes place (you guessed it) on a Friday, each month at The Union — themed around bringing awareness and fun activities to key times of the year — giving you a chance to take a well earned break from your studies and meet new people.

Your Student Officer team have made Feel Good Friday a priority project this year and so far you've had events themed around Halloween and Islamophobia Awareness Month. For December, we're bringing a 'cosy holiday in' to The Union, with hot chocolates, crafts and films to get your in the festive mood.

Upcoming 2022/23 Feel Good Friday events:

+ Willy Wonka theme - Friday 28 April 2023

+ It's not goodbye, it's see you later - Friday 26 May 2023

What is Feel Good Friday and where did it start?

The first Feel Good Friday was on 8 October 2021 and was an idea brought to life by your 2021/22 Student Officer team, led by Wellbeing Officer at the time, Zoe Sutton. The events were designed to have a different focus each time, including men's mental health, student loneliness, self-love and more, with the event seeing loads of different activities running in the Union throughout the day.

The campaign was created to focus on education, creating conversations, and raising awareness for Manchester Met students around important topics, in a fun and enjoyable way – in a post-pandemic world.

Officers also wanted to create a space for students to come and feel comfortable discussing any issues they have with one another. As well as this, the events were a way for us to highlight to students that there’s a lot of options for them to get support over any issues.

Your Student Officers hoped that students who do came along to the Feel Good Friday events learned something new, created friendships and above all – enjoyed themselves.

Thank you so much to everyone who came and enjoyed our events over the past year.
