What to expect from The Union if you're on campus over summer

Friday 08-07-2022 - 14:56

We know most of you’ll have already gone home for summer or will be going very soon. But, for those of you who’re staying with us over the next few months, here’s some important info you’ll need to know if you’re planning on making a trip to The Union.

The Shop

- Open all summer from 10:00 – 16:00, Monday – Friday.

- Except from 14 and 29 July, closed for external stock take. Also, The Shop will be closed for a week (maybe more, check back for updates) on the week commencing 25 July.

There’ll also be some scheduling works taking place in The Shop over summer too. The dates for these aren’t confirmed yet, so if you’re planning on visiting, please keep an eye out on the website for updates. As soon as we know of any changes, we’ll update the site.

The Shop will have pop-up stalls at graduation ceremonies over summer too, so don’t forget to grab yourself some grad merch.

Opportunities Office

- Open as normal all summer from 10:00 – 16:00

There may be some changes which are currently unconfirmed. So again, if you’re planning on visiting, keep an eye out on the website for any updates.

Advice

- Open from 09:30 – 16:00 on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday

- Open from 12:00 – 16:00 on Tuesdays.<.b>

The Advice Centre will still be here to support you throughout summer, through e-mail, phone, Teams, and face-to-face appointments. You can contact them by email or phone on 0161 247 6533 (leave a message for an adviser and they’ll get back to you).

It’s best to get in touch to make an appointment before travelling to The Union, as Advice will be offering remote services on some days.

The Main Hall

The Main Hall is now fully closed to students until September.

External Events – building closed to students

The Union building will be closed to students on 14 July for an external event that requires full access to the building.

Preparations for this event will be taking place on 12 and 13 July, too – so all rooms in the building won’t be accessible to students.

Events you can still attend

There’s an all-day Dungeons & Flagons event on 23 July.

There’s also another Don8 It happening at The Union towards the end of August, keep your eye out on the events page for updates.

Again, please keep an eye out on the site for any updates over the next few months and check out our visual guide to what you can expect from The Union over summer.
