Why should I vote? Student Officer Elections 2021

Friday 12-03-2021 - 09:30

Update: Tuesday 23 March 2021 - The winner of the MacBook Air competition, selected at random from all eligible entries, is Anita Pullmanova. We will be contacting Anita directly to arrange collection of their prize. Thank you again to everyone who voted.

Voting has now opened and every member of The Union (so all MMU students) can vote for who they want the Student Officers to be for the 2021/22 academic year — but why should you vote?

Making your voice heard – You get to have your say on who leads The Union and can choose the candidates that you think are best for the roles.

Thinking of the future – The elected Officer team will run campaigns to support Manchester Met students, you’re voting for the change you want to see.

Every vote counts – Your vote could be the difference between a candidate winning or losing the election.

Vote to win prizes

If that wasn’t enough reasons to vote, we’re excited to announce that this year, we’re also launching a giveaway. All students who vote in the 2021 Student Officer Elections will be entered into a randomised prize draw for the chance to win a MacBook Air.

During voting week, there will also be a chance to win a Nintendo Switch on our Instagram, so make sure to follow us @TheUnionMMU for more details as well as lots of updates on the election.

The officer positions you are voting on are:

  • President
  • Education Officer
  • Societies and Development Officer
  • Sports Officer
  • Wellbeing Officer

You can also decide who you want to represent you as an NUS Delegate at the upcoming NUS National conference. All of the candidates and their manifestos can be found on our website.

Good luck, and happy voting!
